ABout dr. Jon lovette

Dr. Lovette was raised in Anchorage, Alaska and moved to Southern California to pursue his formal education and training in psychology. He lived and worked in San Diego, Orange, and Los Angeles Counties. For the last 18 years, he has called Central Florida his home. In Brevard County, his practice was in Cocoa Beach until moving to Volusia County in 2013.

Clinical

Dr. Lovette started his career after high school as a suicide prevention counselor. Since then, he has treated children, adolescents, adults, and older adults in a variety of settings, including outpatient, hospitals, nursing homes, Assisted Living Facilities, and in-home.

He has used his expertise in cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy (CBT) to treat depression, anxiety, panic, obsessive-compulsive disorder, substance abuse, and many other behavioral health problems. Dr. Lovette has a very unique, practical approach to applying CBT that he has developed over the years in which he tailors his treatment to fit your personality. He minimizes the use of "homework" and focuses instead on gaining mastery of the skills that help you transform your life.

Testing Expertise

Dr. Lovette has been administering and researching cognitive and psychological tests since 1992. In addition to administering tests and measures to thousands of patients, he has also analyzed over 30,000 testing records of research participants. His research has given him a deeper understanding of the tests and examinee responses than found among most psychologists. Dr. Lovette is one of the few psychologists who is qualified to work designing and evaluating the tests being administered.

Research

In addition to being a clinical psychologist, Dr. Lovette is a research psychologist and statistician. He is an expert in research and statistics, and has published in refereed journals and has conducted and consulted on over 1,000 scientific investigations. Although his research specialty was in tests and measures, he has invested numerous topics, including psychopharmacology, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and survey development for Fortune 500 companies. His doctoral dissertation was on the Validity of Self-Report Measures of Anger Expression.
